Health and Wellness 1:1 Coaching

For the Ambitious Black Woman Ready to Master her Schedule and take Action to Deepen her Health and Wellness This Year

Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Mind. Body. Spirit.

See if any of these scenarios sound familiar:

  • You’re hardworking and compassionate, but everyone’s needs seem to come before yours. You give without turning inward and attending to yourself.

  • You never seem to have enough time or energy to make regular exercise and eating well a part of your routine

  • You’re embarking on (yet another) diet/meal plan/exercise plan despite limited success with them in the past

  • Your life/schedule is unstructured you’ve struggled to establish routines long-term, keeping you from your goals

  • You feel discouraged, helpless, even hopeless. You really would like to lose weight and improve your wellness but don’t feel like there’s a point after so many unsuccessful attempts

  • You’d love to adopt healthier habits and implement more self-care in your routine… but you have no idea were to start

Plenty of women I’ve worked with have said these very same things to me across a variety of life situations.

And unfortunately, they often turn their past failures inward to self-blame and negative self-talk.

There’s nothing wrong with you. You’re smart, capable, and driven.

The triumph of finally hitting your goals and enjoying the health and wellness you deserves is possible.

But if you want a stronger, leaner body, and more consistent self-care, you’re going to have to radically shift how you think and the methods you use going forward

1:1 Health and Wellness Coaching for Ambitious Black Women is how you finally see success in 2021

You need to add expert accountability and comprehensive support to your plan

Your goal attainment success CRITICALLY depends on:

  • Developing the skills that will build consistency and stability into your routines

  • Moving away from chronic stress-eating, foods that don’t nourish you and habits that keep you stuck

  • Additional support if “going it alone” has only resulted in limited, short-term results, restriction and hopeless frustration

  • A comprehensive plan that factors ALL areas of your wellness for maximum support and emotional growth

  • A compassionate black health professional who understands you, your goals, your background, and how to accelerate you towards your goals

  • Highly individualized strategy and support in multiple dimensions (nutrition, exercise, mindset, prioritization and scheduling, emotional regulation)so that you’re no longer confused about your own path to success

  • Long-term vision so that 6 months from now, you’re shocked at how far you’ve come instead of disappointed at another 6 months gone with minimal progress or results

What you’re able to accomplish is limited only by how serious you are about committing to the process

Take the first step today and explore what’s possible for you:

What’s Your “WHY?”

Our greatest relationships, accomplishments, and satisfying pursuits in life come from intention.

Deliberate effort. Consistent execution.

And that’s only possible when the reason behind your desire to make changes for the better is strong and personally meaningful.

Which of these outcomes resonates strongest for you? You’re hoping to:

  • Feel fewer aches and pains on a day-to-day basis

  • Enjoy shopping for clothes again and feel confident and satisfied in your physique

  • Expand activities you can joyfully participate in: playing with your children, hiking, running, workout classes

  • Feel more centered, connected, and rooted in healthy habits in routines that fit your life

  • Lose weight, gain strength, get toned

  • Attack life with more energy and feel more able to get through the day

  • Not dread doctor visits anymore and reverse the physical harm from years of poor lifestyle habits

  • Experience fewer aches and pains day-today

Here is exactly what you get with 1:1 Coaching that gets you clear on your goals and closer to living these freedoms:

  • Comprehensive Assessment: You are an individual with unique goals, likes/dislikes, starting points, and life obligations. This style of coaching honors that and we dive into the details of your life to build a plan

  • Nutrition coaching: As an ACSM Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Precision Nutrition Certified Nutrition Coach with several years of experience in the industry, you can take the guess-work out of healthy eating and proceed with confidence on a plan tailored to transition you to healthier meals and habits

  • Exercise Programming: As an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer with years of experience with both individual and classroom instruction, movement is an incredibly important part of a healthy life. Whether you only have a few minutes in a hectic schedule or quite a bit of time, have no idea what to do or where to start or are already pretty good at regular workouts, have access to a gym or not, there’s an exercise program exactly for you

  • Communication and Availability: As your coach, it’s important to me that I remain available to answer any questions you may have in between our meetings and check-ins. You’ll have access to me via email, messaging, and through a sophisticated app that we use as a hub for our training. You’ll never feel unsupported.

  • Emotional Regulation/Mindfulness for Behavior Modification: Our mind is extremely powerful and shapes how we think, the habits we form, and decisions we make. Getting healthier is more than just knowing what to eat and how to move. It’s shifting how we relate to ourselves, others, and our long-term goals so that we can change our behaviors and environment to support health and healing. Much of our work will deal with tackling the discomfort, stress, negative-thinking (and eventually freedom!) that comes with behavioral change and habit formation. There are CRITICAL skills to master here if we’re going to improve our lifestyle.

  • Expert Accountability: You can dream big, but the only way anything happens is with consistent execution. After devising our first steps, you can be sure I have several ways (messaging, email, DMs specialized apps) for keeping you on track and tweaking our methods as you go IN ADDITION to our regular, bi-weekly coaching video calls.

  • Co-Creation of a Strategic Plan: Our coaching dynamic will never be me just telling you what to do. It’s a relationship built on trust and guidance that I provide while gathering feedback for you.

  • Compassionate Guidance: Non-judgement and self-compassion are at the root of my practice. No matter where you’re starting from or when inevitably there are missteps along the way, you can count on me to remind you that it’s all a part of the journey. Shifting from blame and fear of failure to joy and satisfaction with imperfect progress is a necessary part of sustainably moving forward.

  • Data/Progress Tracking: A big part of my job is to track data, use it to adjust our methods as we go, and show you exactly how far you’ve come over time. It’s rewarding to have proof of your hard work and dedication even before it shows up more obviously on the outside.

About Your Coach

Despite the enormous contributions to culture, innovation, and this nation’s prosperity, black women are more likely than any demographic to experience chronic, preventable lifestyle diseases that sap our energy, sense of comfort, and ability to experience our lives to the fullest.

Hi, my name is Jay.

I’m an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, ACSM Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a Precision Nutrition Certified Nutrition Coach.

Several years of working in the health and fitness industry has taught me a few things: The first is how much I enjoy the process of helping others transform their lives through movement, nutrition, prioritizing self-care, and intentional scheduling to move towards a life of greater well-being.

The second is how neglected black women are in these health spaces supposedly dedicated to the well-being of all. My certifications, course, and textbooks over the years rarely if ever examined the pressing barriers and considerations specific to black women and success in this area. It’s through incorporating additional research and community experience that I fully realized the hidden emotional, mental, and systemic barriers keeping us from the satisfaction we seek.

I believe in a holistic model of health. We need to cultivate lifestyle changes that include more than just diet and exercise (although those are important too!) in order to truly feel our best daily. Building the skills to make small, but consistent and meaningful changes to how we live is key.

Of course, much of our health as a demographic nationally lags due to systemic factors that we must fight, resist, and legislate away.

But there’s a lot within our personal power to improve our own quality of health that many women fail to fully access before quitting.

And there’s nothing worth fighting for more than your own health— our truest homes are our bodies.

The decisions you make, the people you intentionally surround yourself with, and the skills you learn and practice daily are either propelling you forward in the direction of your goals, or dragging you further from them.
