Tiya Caniel
Tiya Caniel is a black, queer woman, innerspace stylist, writer, and yogi.
She is currently based in Harmony, North Carolina. Her pronouns are she/her/hers. Tiya has been practicing for a decade, and in 2016 she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher certification from Asheville Yoga Center. In addition to guiding weekly virtual offerings, Tiya also leads workshops and retreats while sitting on the board of The Sanctuary In The City, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping BIPOC heal from race-based trauma. Her guidance on and off the mat is a blend of yogic philosophy, writing, and creative play. By sharing a variety of traditional practices of movement, breath, and meditation with writing + creative expression, Tiya hopes to assist each student in developing their personal yoga practice. She believes the practice of yoga is a lifestyle and a path to liberation of the mind, body, and soul. Her latest virtual offering is The Sacred Self-Love Society, a virtual community space created to help others find liberation through sacred self-love.
